About the Opportunity

A confidential startup at the forefront of neuromodulation and sleep science is seeking an accomplished Chief Scientific Officer to lead its research and clinical agenda. The company is developing a novel, patented device platform for noninvasive modulation of brain states, with initial applications in sleep and insomnia. Backed by a multidisciplinary founding team and a world-class advisory board, the company has completed successful pilot studies, secured non-dilutive grant funding, and is advancing toward pivotal clinical trials and regulatory submission.

The CSO will play a critical role in shaping the scientific vision, leading clinical and regulatory strategy, and ensuring the company’s innovations are validated through rigorous research and published evidence. This is a rare opportunity to define the future of brain health and performance in a highly confidential, fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the company’s sleep science research and development program, ensuring alignment with clinical, regulatory, and commercial objectives.

  • Design, oversee, and execute clinical studies to validate efficacy and safety, with a focus on sleep disorders and related neurological conditions.

  • Lead the development of regulatory strategy for medical device approval, including preparation for FDA and international submissions.

  • Identify and secure grant funding (e.g., NIH, NSF, EU Horizon) and foster collaborations with leading academic and clinical institutions.

  • Guide scientific input into product development and validation, working closely with engineering and commercial teams to ensure translational success.

  • Represent the company at scientific conferences, in publications, and with key opinion leaders, while maintaining strict confidentiality around company IP and strategic direction.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or related field, with a strong focus on sleep science.

  • Demonstrated track record of impactful sleep research, including peer-reviewed publications and successful management of clinical studies.

  • Experience securing non-dilutive funding through grants or institutional partnerships.

  • Working knowledge of FDA or comparable regulatory pathways for medical devices.

  • Experience in neuromodulation, sensory brain stimulation, or related neurotechnology is highly advantageous.

  • Ability to inspire and lead multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic, early-stage environment.

  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and information security throughout the recruitment process and beyond.

Compensation & Structure

  • Substantial stock options commensurate with experience and impact.

  • Cash compensation deferred until successful close of seed funding; all accrued compensation to be paid retroactively upon funding.

  • Remote and flexible work arrangements; open to both full-time and fractional (part-time/consulting) commitments for exceptional candidates.

This confidential search represents a unique opportunity to shape a new frontier in neuroscience and digital therapeutics. More information will be provided to shortlisted candidates under NDA.

All inquiries and applications will be handled with the strictest confidentiality.
